Advocating for better working conditions, our patients, and our community

As the caretakers of our Northern Michigan community, we, the nurses of Munson Medical Center, are dedicated to providing comprehensive safe and compassionate care and wisdom to our friends, family, neighbors, and loyal visitors.  We seek to come together with a unified voice to be true patient advocates, and to make Munson “the overwhelming first choice of patients, physicians, and employees” by creating and maintaining a culture of safety, dignity, respect, transparency, and equality.

TCMNA General Membership Meeting

Our next General Membership Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 1st at 530p and 8p on Zoom. We will talk about leadership elections, Nurse’s Week activities, and offer updates about ongoing unit issues, grievances, and meetings with MMC administration. We will also talk about our escalation plan following the editorial in last week’s Record Eagle.

How to file a grievance

Learn more about what the process of filing a grievance is like and where TCMNA is at with a series of grievances by watching this update from TCMNA Grievance Chair James Walker.

Grievances

Grievances are alleged violations of the contract, or violations of certain longstanding practices, on the part of management. Please contact an officer or labor representative as soon as a concern arises for assistance with filling out and submitting a grievance. The timing and wording used on the form can have a significant impact on the outcome of your grievance.

MNA Members: Update your contact info

If you are already an MNA member, update your contact info here so you can get the latest news from your union.

Assignment Despite Objection Forms

You should fill out an electronic Assignment Despite Objection (ADO) form anytime you are being assigned work that you feel is unsafe, that violates departmental staffing guidelines, or that potentially violates the nursing Code of Ethics. ADO forms can help protect your license by documenting your objection. They also create a record of staffing problems that MNA can use to change dangerous patterns.
